What parents said after the trials.

Every family who attended the January and July 2026 trials was sent the same survey. These are their answers, in their own words.

  • Honestly, at how easy it was to apply and how professional and organised the EFA event was. The online link application, YouTube videos before trial, correspondence and having to have a “quick” chat with Maurice, helped prepare my 13 year old so that he was ready for the event, leaving behind all the fear and perform his best.

  • Everyone got an equal chance and opportunity and my son got to showcase his skills fairly. It was alright but the best in Australia so far definitely. But my son has been in bigger academies in Qatar and in the Uzbek national team as well, but the teams/coaches from Spain that you guys brought to show the kids in Australia were pretty big names and were impressive

    Parent · January 2026 trials

  • This was out first with EFA and we loved the interaction between agents and players. The emphasis on making them comfortable and encourages was outstanding especially since in hind site the boys are competing against each whilst playing as a team. The level of soccer expected of the boys was apparent yet none of the scouts, coaches team members made anyone feel inferior. Did they make mistakes? 100%. Were they beaten up about? Not at all. Instead play was stopped and they were guided, advised and instructed on how to do it better for a more effective outcome.

  • The organisers were well prepared and professional. They provided bottles of water for players, which was a nice touch. I recommended providing clearer information about parking options, trial venues, and a map to help families which was sent prior to trial I thought it would be beneficial to introduce the coaches and committee members and hold a brief information session for parents and Alan did that which is great!! Also loved how friendly the organisers were.

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • Very well organised. When we arrived we thought there were too many kids and it would be hard for coaches to keep up, but when I saw how the session was structured I realised it was done properly so that they would have a pretty good idea about everyone. Sessions were well distributed in regards to time and structure. My son said at the end that the level felt quite competitive and he was very pleased with it, especially the player rep session at the end.

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • The quality of the coaching and the professionalism of the whole event really stood out. The sessions were well organised, the coaches were engaged with every player, and the environment challenged Mackenzie while still making her feel comfortable and supported. She came away feeling motivated and excited to continue.

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • The coaching staff, and the elite team are well organised with the Spain coaches and the different types of roles in the team which made know that elite are well formed agency and I loved the training sessions and great timing with trial dates

    Parent · July 2026 trials

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • My son felt game time was very limited and he would’ve liked more time on the pitch to show what he can do, especially considering he was started as a sub on both days. Also unsure they did not wear their numbered bibs in drills as well as match play in order to look at a more complete assessment

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • My son was subbed off for a lot of the trial and I didn't feel that he got enough time on the ball. He had bad cramps on the first day that he couldn't get rid of, so he really looked forward to day 2, but was sat out quite a lot.

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • Possibly different set up to see the football IQ of players .. eg small sided games, all players active..different start time second day to challenge them.. Set up 4v4 and 5v5.. Shooting and range of passing etc

    Parent · January 2026 trials

  • If the Goalkeeper coach (Sam Frangos), who recommended our daughter attend, also took the sessions would have been a better experience from a role perspective.

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • For us it was not a great start as the BIB number allocation was doubled with another player

    Parent · July 2026 trials

  • Better training

    Parent · January 2026 trials

  • Communication and organisation could have been clearer, particularly around logistics such as parking, trial locations, and scheduling. More upfront information (including maps and timelines), a brief parent briefing, and clearer expectations would have improved the overall experience. Hot weather planning and on-the-day support could also be strengthened to better support players and families

    Parent · January 2026 trials

  • There was no communication in advance of the trial that girls would be mixed with boys, and older boys at that, which put my daughter at a disadvantage. Also the boys were hogging certain positions, forcing my daughter to play in a position that she would not normally. I flew my daughter and myself down to Sydney, hired a car and motel for the trial, if I had known in advance that it would be a mixed trial of older boys and the coaches weren't forcing a rotation of positions, I wouldnt have come to the trial. As it is I felt we were just fodder providing playmates for the target trialees.
